In his current role as a founding partner at Garrison Strategy, Tim McMillan draws upon this experience in public policy and as an experienced communicator to achieve results for his clients. He is a board member of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
McMillan grew up near Lloydminster, Saskatchewan where the values of hard work and fiscal responsibility were cornerstones to success on the family farm. After earning an Economics degree from the University of Victoria, he returned to the family farm, founded and operated an oilfield services company and a cattle operation.
In 2007, McMillan was elected as a Saskatchewan Party MLA in the riding of Lloydminster. In his time in government he held several strategic Cabinet Portfolios, including Minister of Energy and Resources, and Minister of Rural and Remote Health.
In 2014, McMillan joined the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producer (CAPP) as President and CEO. He led the industry association in its broad range of advocacy efforts across the country through some on the most tumultuous times the industry has faced for over 7 years, retiring from the role in 2022.
